Trolltunga Classic
Join an unique adventure as we experience Trolltunga when most hikers have returned down to civilization. Enjoy sunset and sunrise from our secluded camp 1200 meters above sea level with panorama views. An all-inclusive hike with local food, private tents and experienced guides. A truly once in a lifetime experience! If you can not find your preferred date available, please contact us and we will see what we can arrange. Our overnight season ends September 15th and opens up again May 25th 2025.
This tour is for those who want as much time as possible at Trolltunga with less people around. Experience the sunset, peaceful mountains and also the special light in the morning before the crowds come marching in.
We have a beautiful campsite not far from Trolltunga where we will spend the evening and night. Our camp is tucked away from the main paths and probably the most secluded camp near Trolltunga.
At camp we'll prepare and serve traditional local reindeer stew (or a vegan option) while you relax around the campfire. If the weather is good we will hike to the original Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), a stunning cliff formation as magical as the more famous Trolltunga.

We will meet at 11:15 at the Skjeggedal (P2) meeting point (read more about getting to Skjeggedal and the surrounding area HERE). Our guides will welcome you and then shuttle you up to Mågelitopp (P3), where the hike begins.
The hike to Trolltunga is 10 km long, offering stunning views of Folgefonna Glacier, Lake Ringedal, and the magnificent surrounding nature. Along the way we will make small detours to hidden gems and make stops at the very best photo spots. Around 15:00, we will serve you a classic Norwegian mountain lunch at our picturesque lunch spot. Depending on the pace of the group, we will reach Trolltunga around 17:00. Here, you will have plenty of time to enjoy one of Europe's most spectacular rock formations.
Upon arrival at camp, you will be assigned a private tent for you and/or your travel companions. The camp is a short walk from Trolltunga, so if you want to head back for the sunset that is possible. In the evening we prepare our famous local Reindeer stew (or vegan option). After dinner, you have time to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views and enjoy the company of the group.
If the weather permits, we will make a campfire where you can prepare Norwegian S’mores and drink hot chocolate with whipped cream. If the sky is clear, we can see a beautiful starry sky over the mountains. There is a possibility for an evening excursion to the original Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), a stunning cliff formation as magical as the more famous Trolltunga. For an extra good night's sleep, we recommend a swim in our secret pond. It’s cold, but no one has ever regretted it!
Your guides will wake you up early the next morning and serve you breakfast and coffee/tea in bed. After breakfast, we will get the chance to experience Trolltunga again in the special morning light before we start our way back to civilization. We should be back at the parking lot between 14:00 and 15:00, depending on the weather and the pace of the group.
We will provide: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, sleeping liners, food, coffee/tea, and some local surprises. All you need is a backpack, warm clothes, optional swimwear, and snacks. Be sure to check out our packing list before your hike!
We look forward to seeing you this summer!
